Deborah J. Wu
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Stonehill College.
As of January 2025, I will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University. I plan to accept a PhD student this upcoming cycle (starting Fall 2025).
I study how social identities and emotions shape our experiences, attitudes, and behavior.
I have three main lines of research:
Examining how stereotypes impact stigmatized individuals and developing interventions to mitigate the negative effects of these stereotypes
Identifying the situational contexts that impact intergroup perceptions
Testing why and how different emotions have distinct impacts on our attitudes and behavior
I utilize multiple methods, ranging from surveys, implicit measures, nonverbal behavioral coding, autonomic nervous system physiology, and EEG.
I received my PhD from the University of Massachusetts in 2022 and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship from Northwestern University in 2023.
